News from the appointment

Rick & I met with an oncologist today at the Lakeshore Area Oncology Center along with our sister-in-law, Deb.  We were anxious about what the doctor would tell us about the bone scan and we wanted to have him show it to us and explain it.  He did do that and he feels the bone scan even though it does show two areas of ‘interest’, he is not ready to definitely say that is ‘bone cancer.’  He advised a new PSA blood test to compare to the one Rick had in September, revealing the elevation in numbers.  He also recommended a MRI to be done as soon as one could be scheduled, then following that up with an appointment with Rick’s surgeon and the oncologist again to discuss the results of an MRI and next plan of treatment.
With that said, we are thankful that we came away from the meeting with ‘hope’.  That is what we were praying for.  We also were given a number of options for possible treatment.  That is also what we were praying for.  Finally, we look at this as being given a period of more ‘time’ and that is the precious thing we hold on to.  Of course, nobody knows the length of that time and we are cautiously optimistic.  Life is precious and every new day is a gift.
Please continue to pray that these new tests will give us accurate information and pray that the doctors and others involved will be able to provide a course of action that may result in remission.  Also pray that Rick’s pain he is currently experiencing may be controlled with the medication he is now taking.  Better yet would be that the pain would leave his body all together.
We will continue posting as we get more information.  Thank you everyone!  Prayer changes things so continue to PRAY!
